Highly efficient heating systems based on the latest heat pump technology
Systems for utilisation of low-temperature secondary heat resources of thermal power plants to improve energy efficiency and flexibility of energy consumption and production
Purpose
Extraction of explicit and latent heat of liquefied and gaseous emissions and discharges from thermal power plants using heat pump heat recovery units for further use for heat supply needs or independent regulation of thermal and electrical loads of the United Energy System of Ukraine.
Tasks
Improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions of heat and power plants in full and partial load modes, expanding the regulatory range through the use of secondary heat resources that are currently being lost.
Description
The main elements of the system that provide its benefits are medium and high capacity compression heat pumps with an increased refrigerant boiling point range and optimally combined heat exchangers designed to extract low-temperature secondary heat resources (LTSHR) in the form of waste heat from water circulation cycles and condensation heat from the combustion products of thermal power plants. The use of heat pumps enables the beneficial use of low-temperature secondary heat resources containing water and gaseous streams of circulating cooling systems and exhaust products of combustion of thermal power plants, the temperature of which is lower than the minimum temperature of the heat carrier in the heat supply circuit of external consumers, which makes it impossible to use them directly. The amount of heat that is currently lost and can be directed to external consumers using the proposed system ranges from 10% to 50% of the useful heat output of thermal power plants, depending on their type and purpose. This makes it possible to either increase the heat output or reduce the consumption of the main fuel while maintaining the original heat load. Electricity consumption to increase the temperature potential of the LTSHR in heat pumps is only 15%-20% of the heat content of the LTSHR, which ensures the payback of the system. The development can be applied to hot water and steam boilers using gaseous or solid biofuels, steam turbine CHP plants, cogeneration units based on internal and external combustion engines, etc.
