Waste heat utilization technologies
Development of energy- and environmentally-efficient waste heat utilization systems of heat-generating plants and fuel-consuming plants
Purpose
Reducing the use of fuel and energy resources and improving environmental conditions in the production of heat energy for the needs of heat supply to municipal and industrial facilities
Tasks
Thermal and physical substantiation of the latest methods and measures for the involvement of secondary energy resources in the energy balance of Ukraine through:
- development of technologies for utilisation of heat emissions from heat and power plants of municipal and industrial facilities;
- creation of technologies to improve environmental efficiency and reliability of boiler plants and industrial furnaces.
Description
The project envisages the development of new schematic solutions for energy and environmentally efficient waste heat recovery systems for heat generating units and fuel-consuming units for technological purposes, with the aim of increasing their service life on the basis of:
1) deeper cooling of waste gases from boiler plants and industrial furnaces using utilised heat for various needs of municipal and industrial enterprises;
2) application of advanced flue gas recycling technology in heat recovery schemes to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions in boiler plants;
3) use of thermal methods for anti-corrosion protection of air and gas supply and exhaust ducts of boiler plants and industrial furnaces to improve the conditions for dispersing harmful emissions from these plants into the environment;
4) manufacture of critical elements of the created heat recovery systems from nanocomposite materials.
The project will result in a 5-10% reduction in fuel consumption for heat generation by municipal and industrial boilers and a 10-60% reduction in harmful emissions from heat generating and process plants into the environment.
